Hostel Manager – Matoi Hostel & Bar Location: Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture Employment Type: Full-Time Experienced candidates preferred Additional allowances provided for holders of Domestic Travel Services Manager or Overseas Travel Services Manager certifications Working Hours: As required by business needs Company Overview: Matoi Hostel & Bar is located in the suburbs of Takasaki City. Opened in 2023, this hostel is dedicated to promoting the charms of Gunma Prefecture to international visitors. Gunma is known for its rich nature, outdoor activities, hiking, and cycling. It is also famous as the setting for the Initial D series, featuring numerous mountain passes. Additionally, the area is praised for its low cost of living, safety, and low incidence of natural disasters. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the cleaning and setup of the hostel, including guest rooms, common areas, and bar. This may involve cleaning, shopping, inventory control, staff scheduling, and more. - Management tasks: Create staff schedules, manage payroll and records, and oversee hostel inventory. - Oversee daily hostel operations: Supervise all departments, including front desk, sales, communications, OTA (online travel agency) platform management, payments, marketing, laundry room, bar/café, kitchen, housekeeping, and hostel maintenance. - Supervise staff and delegate tasks. - Conduct regular quality checks: Ensure guest rooms and common areas meet quality standards before guest arrival. - Problem-solving: Manage and resolve escalated issues. - Guest relations: Requires strong communication skills and business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese. - Manage operational budgets: Oversee budgets, profit and loss statements, and company paperwork according to policies. - Training and staff development: Conduct training, coaching, and performance meetings as needed. - Cash handling and loss prevention: Adhere to company cash management policies and loss prevention strategies. Qualifications: - Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese. - Strong leadership and organizational skills. - Excellent communication and guest service abilities. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently. - Skills in managing social media platforms. Working Hours & Holidays: - 8 hours per day, 5 days per week - 2 days off per week Salary: Monthly salary starting from 350,000 JPY (including 42 hours of overtime), determined based on experience Housing allowance provided according to company regulations Recruiting Part-Time Staff: - Fluent in English and Japanese. - Strong communication skills. - Hourly wage: 1,200 JPY. Also Hiring Exchange Workers: - Must speak English. - Strong communication skills. - Free bed provided. - 2 days off per week. - Work 3 hours per day in the restaurant & bar. - Only for those with a Working Holiday Visa.
