Work Hours: Classes offered at TUJ meet three times a week on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule, or twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday schedule. TUJ offers undergraduate majors to a broad mix of over 2,500 Japanese and non-Japanese degree-seeking students who will earn their degrees from Temple University through the Japan campus. Every semester, additional undergraduate students from Temple’s main campus and other universities converge on TUJ for a short-term study abroad experience. In one of the most dynamic cities in the world, TUJ offers twelve full undergraduate majors ranging from Art to International Business to Asian Studies. Our faculty and staff are international, with 80 full-time faculty and instructional staff joined by experienced administrators and many part-time adjunct faculty from the professions, business, and the arts. TUJ holds classes in the fall and spring semesters (15 weeks) and over a well-enrolled 10-week summer semester. Overview of Position: The position involves teaching either Introduction to Academic Writing and/or Analytical Reading and Writing courses to first-year undergraduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Teaching Fields: Freshman Composition, TESOL, ESL Academic Writing. Qualifications & Experience: Instruction is in English and fluency in English is required. - Master’s degree in TESOL, English rhetoric, composition, linguistics, or other related subjects. - At least three years of experience teaching writing/composition in an American university. - Be available to teach in-person classes. - To teach online classes, online teaching experience at the university level is required. Successful applicants will be expected to complete Temple’s Online Teaching Institute prior to the semester.
