Teaching English as an instructor primarily involves providing private and small group lessons to students ranging from children to adults. You'll be responsible for engaging students through tailored lessons that address their individual needs, ensuring they achieve their language learning goals. This involves minimal lesson preparation as student performance is assessed in real-time during each class. Lessons are taught in a school-based setting, conducive to various ages and abilities. Responsibilities may also include student recruitment, customer care, and other related support activities when not engaged in direct teaching. NOVA is one of Japan's leading English schools, operating around 300 branches across the country. This position requires teachers to be flexible as lessons are primarily scheduled between 1:00 PM and 9:30 PM on weekdays, and from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM on weekends and holidays. While prior teaching experience is not necessary, candidates need to be native-level English speakers. The role offers guaranteed schedules and weekly lessons with remuneration starting at 1,200 to 2,200 yen per 40-minute lesson, along with transportation expenses.
