Canonical is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join the Sustaining Engineering team, where you’ll work in a fast-paced environment focused on Linux-based software-defined infrastructure and applications. This role will require expertise across all layers of the software stack including bare metal, virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and associated open-source applications. You will be instrumental in addressing software issues encountered by both enterprise customers and the wider Ubuntu community. Responsibilities: - Resolve complex customer issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes. - Collaborate closely with Canonical's field support and product engineering teams. - Participate actively in upstream communities and develop bug fixes, backport patches, and ensure inclusion of these patches upstream. - Conduct code reviews and demonstrate good judgment in technical methods. - Prioritize workload effectively and share improvements on processes, tools, and documentation. - Maintain clear, concise technical communication both within the team and with external stakeholders. - Minimal travel required (up to 10% of work time) for team meetings and events.
